
MLC Mobile App - NAB Bank

For over 130 years, MLC has been helping clients create the best possible future by providing wealth management expertise and access to a broad range of solutions across investments, superannuation and financial advice. With over 1.2 million members, MLC is the largest Corporate Super provider and offers one of the largest Retail super funds in Australia. I had the chance to work within their mobile team for 11 months. MLC belonged to the Wealth Department of NAB Bank.
Challenge
During my arrival in the Mobile Team the MLC app was just being launched. The mobile team had been working one full year to lay the foundations of the app. My task during the launch was designing the marketing collateral. This meant designing the landing page for the mobile app on the MLC public website and the Appstore preview screens, in the IOS AppStore and Google Play Store. My focus for the rest of my time in the team would be the development of new features in the app. Customers were currently able to view their Superannuation and Pension. ‘Investments’, ‘Notify My Employer’ with my Super details and ‘Login with FaceID’ were some of the features on the roadmap to be released.

Approach
I worked closely with the UX Designer to gather all information needed from our investment customers. We conducted User Interviews and Surveys with existing Investment customers and facilitated workshops to gather business requirements. We presented our findings back to the team and prioritised the new investment features based on a high effort/low effort scale. Once we designed a new flow for a feature we guerrilla tested it. Throughout the design process we needed to make sure all designs were compliant with the AA Accessibility standards. We worked closely together with an Accessibility Specialist to review all our designs to make sure they were usable by all our different user groups. For Investments we created a performance graph which showed the performance of the customers funds. This was based on our research and had the highest priority. I maintained the Design System and worked closely with the developers to discuss the use and design of shared components.
