Sometimes during an interview after I show my portfolio I get the honest question: Where did it all start? And then I answer: well here.. Have a look at my real work. My passion. I have been drawing since my mom gave me pencils to draw. And it actually never stopped. I love doing it. It is like therapy or meditation. Loose yourself for a few hours and only think about the shape of your next line. That is for me pure happiness.
Over the last few years I have been experimenting with fineliners. This new technique is super versatile. I love what you can create with just one fineliner. I try them in different thicknesses to give the lines a bolder or thinner look.
It started when I explored drawing letters in calligraphy. Soon I started illustrating letters. Every letter has its own story. I made them for friends, colleagues and family. It is always the first letter of their name followed by illustrations inside the letter which are connected to a theme. The theme can be anything the person likes or does in their lives. I also love playing with geometrical shapes to create optical illusions. You will see this in most of my artwork.
