AnalogFolk
AnalogFolk is a global digital creative agency with offices in London, Amsterdam, New York, Portland, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Sydney. I had the opportunity to work for 2 weeks at their office in Sydney and grew to really love this bunch of creatives. I was asked to help them on a project for an insurance client based in Perth.
Challenge
The insurance client wanted to inform their customers that they can tailor their life insurance. Based on their customer research they found out that many customers don’t know about the ability to do so. By building a mobile website which asks the customer a few questions about their life situation they want to enable them to make the right choice within their insurance package and motivate them to adjust it later. This would benefit the customer and the business. One of the requirements was that it would be a white labeled product. The name of the product is SuperSuper. This is a made up name by the client. Another requirement was that the first touch point in the customers journey would be a text message with a link which directs them to the mobile website.
Approach
I started by setting up the wireframes in AdobeXD. Each life situation has a different outcome. Based on the information the customer fills in like “I have kids”, “single”, “own a house”, “rent a house” the outcome of their results change. Some results can be: A free callback with an advisor or reading a certain article. I built the prototype in AdobeXD and published it in the AdobeXD app which allows my stakeholders to review the prototype from anywhere. Since my stakeholders were in Perth they could instantly see the progress of the prototype on an actual mobile device.
When I published the prototype the first time the stakeholders were happy with how the flow worked but not happy with the “design”. I had to explain that the requirements were; a white labeled product and that these were basic wireframes. I understood that they still wanted to see UI design. But within the short time frame that was given I couldn’t go all out with the design in this product. So I created a simple blue style for this prototype with clean typography. A fun logo with an umbrella referring to the insurance cover and added some illustrations to explain all the different steps better and published the product again. During the second review the stakeholders were very happy with the result.
I had some time left to teach the Designer from AnalogFolk how to work with AdobeXD. He had been using Sketch until now and was not familiar with XD. If the client wanted any changes on the prototype he wasn’t able to fix it quickly after I left. So I was dedicated to show him some tips and tricks. I am a big fan of the software because you can quickly mock up any website or mobile app. The designer was sold and is using AdobeXD for all his UX/UI projects. Mission accomplished.
